01. Why

Outfit planning is the worst, isn't it?! We know. We've done so many brainstorming calls over outfits and sometimes get to the shoot with an astounding ZERO options, so we've decided to put together a guide so all of your answers are here.

YOU WANT IT TO BE PERFECT.
YOU WANT IT TO BE TIMELESS.

Here's the thing, y'all. There is no such thing as perfect and who the heck decides what's timeless or not!? You know what I say to 'Timeless Fashion?" Timeless fashion never met 6 year old Ashley B. looking through mom's photo albums loving every fashion choice her mother made in 1982. If mother Deb would have worn only what would have been timeless, I wouldn't know that I'm looking at photos from the eighties... and photos of what my mom was actually like back then. Your style shows your personality. Don't hide that for 'timeless' clothes, guys.

REFLECT WHO YOU ARE. WEAR YOUR FAVORITE BROKEN-IN TEE.

You don't need to go shopping and if you do, you absolutely don't need to spend a fortune. We'd so much rather you wear shit that makes you already feel like Beyonce and you know it, because you've worn it before and you feel confident AF.

02. Options

you don't have to follow these guidelines,
but we hope they help!

you look best when you're not trying to be anyone
but yourselves

Bring a few outfits for your shoot. Bring as many as you'd like. Anything in your closet that you LOVE to wear and gravitate towards. I know this will make your fiance extra happy too, because you know he wants to bring his favorite tee. The more options you have with you, the easier it will be for us to pick outfits that match your location while also nailing your personal style. We typically aim for two but can photograph more. Just know the more you photograph, the less photos you'll get because of all of the time changing.

03. Personalities

EDGY / PLAYFUL / HAPPY / INTIMATE / COZY

Are you both more intimate together naturally or are you more cozy and cuddly? If you're ready to take on the town on a typical Saturday night, rock something that shows off your confidence (but isn't a restricting outfit - we'll get into that later.) If you'd rather Netflix and chill, please please please don't wear heels to your engagement shoot. Be true to who you are and own it.

04. Let's be real

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING. PRACTICALITY.

If there's one thing that's really difficult, it's heels. Sure, heels make you look sexy but really, how often do you wear heels? And how much do you love to waltz around in heels? Simply, don't bring heels as your only option. If we're going in nature, this doesn't make sense. If we're going downtown - this COULD make sense. Just be logical with your decisions. If you want more of an adventure shoot, don't bring a satin tight-fitting bodycon dress, ya know? If we're building a campfire, DO bring a cozy sweater to layer up, a tee and some cozy denim. THAT makes sense and we're all about making sense around here.

Simply, remember where you are and what season you're in. Dress for that.

05. Details

If you see wind or feel wind in your hair, please don't panic. It makes the absolute prettiest movement so be sure to include a couple of things that could really show that off in case we have a windy day. It's seriously sometimes our favorite.

wind is dope.

We're human. We're imperfect and that's fine, but like I've said before... whatever makes you feel like Beyonce... DO IT. You will undoubtedly lose 50% of the makeup you're wearing in camera and professionals know how to kill it. We highly recommend getting your makeup done for your engagement and wedding day - and if you don't want to simply chance it for wedding day, your engagement session is a great way to see if it's for you but lashes... if we could require them, we would.

06. Colors

To keep it simple, neutrals are always a good idea

The simpler, the better. Neutrals are always a win and earth tones are as well.

Know your skin tone and wear colors that compliment your skin tone.

Feel welcome to text your outfits to (316) 494-3571. We can hash it out together!

07. Patterns + Accessories

patterns and accessories can be the best, but they can also be the worst.

For the most part, avoid large and in charge patterns and stick to smaller, not distracting patterns. Large and busy patterns can create a really busy photo which can take away from the most important part... you two.  Stripes, flannels and small florals are a go - usually.

Chunky necklaces aren't our fave but have you loved those dainty pieces of jewelry?! YES PLEASE. That paired with cute rings, etc. That's perfect.

Sunglasses, hats, glasses, rings (ALL the rings) earrings, bracelets. ALL yesses in our humble opinon. ;)

all the yes!

If you have a four-legged pal that's basically your child, please bring him. We'll allocate 15 minutes to this. Just make sure you have a friend/fam that can pick him up after 15 minutes so you don't have to worry about Ole' Yeller in the back of the car because noone wants that. Other props that are cute could be wine, pizza, confetti, guitars, kayaks - anything that means something. - If it doesn't mean something, ex-nay it.
